“I know I should write a blog, it’s on my list, but I never do it.” That was me yesterday. And then Nick Hoard called me out and challenged me to write it in 24 hours. He made it easy – write about why you want to write a blog.

All I could think of was why NOT write one. The top three from my long list of reasons excuses are:

  1. 571 MILLION active blogs in world & 31.7 million bloggers in the US.
  2. Pressure to say something relevant & original.
  3. 4 hours average per post.

The world does not NEED another blog. Everything has been said. There are no original ideas. I am not an “influencer.” I have other things to do. I will stick to my marketing plan of “doing good work” and hope for the best. But in this new hybrid world of virtual and in-person engagements, events, purchases, and services, I am not engaging the 77% of people who read blogs.

Do I want to speak to some of 77%?

Do I want to connect with more leaders and organizations bravely challenging their status quo?

Do I want to see more healthy, resilient, servant leaders & organizations transforming their communities for good?

Yes. Yes. YES!!

Then, maybe I should start a conversation. Share relevant and original ideas that have transformed how I understand and practice leadership. Tell stories about organizations I know that are changing and contributing. Pose good questions that will till up the hard soil of resistance in us all, so that we can all challenge how things are and lean into transformation.

No more status quo for me, I am starting today.
